CHARACTERS

Autumn                 :    early twenties, student of a university, a lil bit frankly, careless, cheerful.

Luke                      :    middle twenties, state worker, patient, obedient, kind, loving.

Michael / Mike      :    early twenties, student of a university, fun, a lil bit naughty, cheerful.

Summer                 :    early twenties, student of a university, cheerful, too melodramatic, smart.

SETTING

It’s around 2011 and 2012. It’s located in a house, a two-floor house, with a small living room. There are four chairs and a table in the living room. In the corner, lies a refrigerator and a Christmas tree from last Christmas.

THE PLAY

            It’s the story of a girl confusing her love life. The girl called Autumn. She is actually in a long distance relationship with Luke. Luke is a state worker living in another city. Autumn has been in a relationship with Luke for about two years. All of this time, her relationship with Luke was fine until a boy called Mike came to her life. Luke never knows though, that her love is divided now. Autumn herself never tells anyone but her best friend Summer.

ACT 1

SCENE 1

(Autumn and Summer are chatting in Autumn’s living room. Autumn seems so anxious. Summer is wondering what happened to her best friend. She knows a bit about her best friend’s problem. However, she’s still wondering why Autumn is so anxious.)

Summer        :  “What happens to you? Still thinking about Mike? Just don’t worry”

                        “He will understand your feeling.”

Autumn        :  “I don’t think about that. I just feel so uneasy about Luke.”

Summer        :  “Ha! Still thinking about him, too? I guess you’ve forgot him already.”

Autumn        :  “You know I never forget him. It’s just that my feeling isn’t the same anymore.”

                        “I still care about him, though.”

Summer        :  “Haha. I know.. I know.. I’m kidding.”

                        “So, what’s your plan now?”

Autumn        :  “I don’t know. Let’s just see what will happen.”

Summer        :  “Okay. It’s your right to decide.”

Autumn        :  “You’re not helping at all.”

Summer        :  “Autumn, it’s not that I don’t wanna help you.”

                        “It’s just that you need to decide that yourself.”

Autumn        :  “Yeaa… I know that. Knowing that you care is such a help for me.”

                        “Maybe I just need to take more time to think of it.”

Summer        :  “Take your time as much as you need, then.”

SCENE 2

(Early in the morning. The non-expectable Mike comes to Autumn’s house.)

(The bell is ringing)

(Autumn is opening the door.)

Autumn        :  “Whoaaa… What are you doing here so early?”

Mike             :  “Nothing. Just wanna see you.”

Autumn        :  “Ahh… I see. You want to look for some foods, don’t you?

Mike             :  “Ahahaha… I don’t. I’ve had my breakfast. Don’t you ask me to come in?

Autumn        :  “Ohh… I’m sorry. I forget. Please come and sit.”

(Autumn and Mike walk into the chair and sit.)

Mike             :  “Have you taken a bath? I smell something here.”

                        (holding his nose)

Autumn        :  “Who told you to come so early? I’ve just waken up.”

Mike             :  “Hahh… You are lazy.”

Autumn        :  “I’m not lazy. You’re the one who is too diligent.”

                        “Anyway, have you heard the latest gossip?”

Mike             :  “What gossip? I never pay attention on that kind of thing.”

Autumn        :  “Tom asked Summer to be his girl yesterday at campus.”

                        “He’s so romantic. He brought a bunch of flowers and asked her.”

                        “I wish there was someone doing that for me, too.”

Mike             :  “Tom? Being so romantic? Wow… Summer must’ve done some magic. Haha…”

Autumn        :  “Non sense. I just believe that deep inside his heart, he’s a romantic boy.”

Mike             :  “So, you’re dreaming of someone doing that for you?”

                        “Whom do you wish for?”

Autumn        :  “Who you think?”

Mike             :  “Luke, rite?”

Autumn        :  “Hmm… He has ever done it before. If he does it again, it won’t be special.”

Mike             : “So? Who’s that? Is that someone I know?”

Autumn        : “Eenngggg… maybe. It could be.”

Mike             :  “Ahaha… You know I’m not a type of a romantic boy.”

Autumn        :  “Who said that it was you!”

Mike             :  “Heyy… calm down. I’m kidding. It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t me.”

(Autumn is blushing.)

SCENE 3

(Next day, in the rainy evening Luke comes in Autumn’s house. It’s about 2 months, he doesn’t meet with Autumn. He takes some Christmas holidays from his job to meet Autumn. He looks so enthusiastic to meet his girl. He pushes the bell and Autumn opens the door.)

Autumn        :  “Hey… “

Luke             :  “Heiii, honey!, I have something for you”

Autumn        :  “For me? What is that?

Luke             :  “Taraaa….” (Showing a T-shirt)

Autumn        :  “T-shirt? Nice… is it from your city?”

Luke             :  “Yeaa..”

Autumn        :  “I love it, thanks, hon!”

Luke             :  “I love you”

Autumn        :  “Haha… Nice to see you, you look so… Wow today!”

Luke             :  “Haha… Really? It’s just for you, hon… It’s been 2 months we didn’t meet. So I don’t wanna miss the chance to impress you..”

Autumn        :  “Hahaha… Please come and sit”

(Autumn and Luke walk into the chair and sit.)

Autumn        :  “Do you wanna something to drink?”

Luke             :  “No, I wanna go out with you”

Autumn        :  “Whoaa? Where?”

Luke             :  “Dinner?”

Autumn        :  “No.”

Luke             :  “Why?”

Autumn        :  “I’m full, Mom cooked my favorite foods today”

Luke             :  “Haha.. no wonder your tummy looks so big”

Autumn        :  “Uh..”

Luke             :  “Mmmm… what about watching movie?”

Autumn        :  “I’m not sure with the film in theatre. It’s all about horror, I don’t like”

Luke             :  “So… where do you wanna go?”

Autumn        :  “I don’t know, maybe just stay home”

Luke             :  “You sure?”

Autumn        :  “Yeaa..”

Luke             :  “What’s going on with you, Autumn? You look so different”

Autumn        :  “Nothing, I just… tired, Luke. I have many tasks from campus, is that all right?”

Luke             :  “It’s OK, hon..  I will be here to help you…”

Autumn        :  “Thanks, hon.. You’re so nice”

SCENE 4

(Autumn feels that she can’t do this anymore. Her boyfriend is Luke, but she can’t stop thinking about Mike. Summer said so.)

Summer        :  “I looked at the timeline, yesterday. Is Luke here?”

Autumn        :  “Yeaa.. But he back today”

Summer        :  “So… You will miss him for a long time again, huh?”

Autumn        :  “I miss Mike”

Summer        :  “I thought we talk about Luke”

Autumn        :  “I don’t know… Mike always in my mind”

Summer        :  “Are you crazy? What about Luke? He’s still your boy friend, rite?”

Autumn        :  “Yea.. but you know? I don’t have feeling with Luke anymore”

Summer        :  “Oh.. God”

Autumn        :  “I don’t know, Luke’s kind to me. He’s lovely… But I fall in love with Mike… I can’t stop thinking about him… but I don’t know whether he loves me too or not”

Summer        :  “You know that Luke is kind to you, so you don’t ever make him hurt. About Mike… I think you should say your feeling to Mike”

SCENE 5

(Autumn follows her best friend’s suggest. She sends a message to Mike and Mike comes to her home.)

Autumn        :  “Hey Mike, come in”

(Mike’s smiling and follows Autumn into the chair and sit)

Autumn        :  “I thought you’re not coming, you didn’t reply my message”           

Mike             :  “I was sleeping when you text me, then I forgot to reply when I woke.. Haha”

Autumn        :  “Uh…”

Mike             :  “You smell good, anyway..”

Autumn        :  “I know you will come, so I wake up early”

Mike             :  “Haha.. You miss me, rite?”

Autumn        :  “Well, I’m not, I just wanna meet you”

Mike             :  “Haha..”                         

(They laugh together)

Mike             :  “So, why do you wanna meet me? Wanna say something?”

Autumn        :  “Yeaaa”

Mike             :  “What is that? I wanna hear..”

Autumn        :  “Emmm…”

Mike             :  “What? Huh?” (Looking into Autumn with serious face)

Autumn        :  “Don’t look me like that. I’m speechless if you look me like that”

Mike             :  “OK well.. I’m not”

                        “I’m looking at there” (Looking at the Christmas tree)

Autumn        :  “I want to say… that I love you, Mike”

Mike             :  (Looking into Autumn quickly) “Whoa!?? Are you kidding me?”

Autumn        :  “I’m not, I’m serious”

Mike             :  “I thought Luke is your boyfriend”

Autumn        :  “Yes, he did”

Mike             :  “What do you mean? I don’t understand”

Autumn        :  “I don’t think we still can go along together. It’s better that we choose our own way”

Mike             :  “You’ve been with him for about two years. How come you said that?”

Autumn        :  “I fall in love with you, I don’t wanna hurt him then”

(Mike’s only in silence)

Autumn        :  “Mike, Don’t you wanna say something to me ? I wanna know your feeling on me. Please..”

Mike             :  “I don’t know what to say.. I never think that you will say that to me.. I have the same feeling with you, but I thought you will never be mine because you still in relationship with Luke. I’m waiting for you a long times, but you never know. I expect you say this 2 weeks ago”

Autumn        :  “What do you mean with 2 weeks ago?”

Mike             :  “I’m in a relationship with Lizzy. I’m sorry Autumn. You’re still be my best friend”
